Creating spaces that inspire and shape the future.

Nepal is a developing country. In terms of education, there are significant challenges in quality, equity, and relevance of education. Additionally, one of the biggest challenges in Nepal’s education system is limited access to education, particularly for disadvantaged groups such as girls, children from low-income families, and children from remote and rural areas. Many students face barriers to accessing education, including lack of schools, transportation, and financial resources. The quality of education in Nepal is also a big concern. There is a need for more student-centered and interactive teaching methods to improve the quality of education in the country. In addition to quality education, technical education and vocational training are essential components of education for students but education system in Nepal doesn’t much focuses on the practical education which basically includes vocational training and skills.

The government of Nepal hasn’t recognized the importance of technical education and vocational training. Regardless of economic status, and the education system in Nepal proves that there shall be an invention of Technical Education and vocational training schools with proper resources with management and sustainability. With that, SOD Nepal with collaboration with Sharing the world dream ( KOREA) and Chnadragiri Municiplaity  focuses on developing a technical education and vocational training school on Chandragiri Municipality Ward- 12 utilizing the infrastructure of Balambu Secondary School.

Moreover,  Technical education and vocational training can also help to empower over local communities of Chandragiri and nearby areas in promoting self-reliance and sustainable development. Students can learn how to develop and maintain local infrastructure, provide technical services to their communities, and engage in entrepreneurship. As a result this will also help to promote local industries, and create new job opportunities in their area itself.

TLC ( Temporary Learning Centre)

Temporary learning centers (TLCs) play a critical role in providing education and support to children and communities affected by earthquakes or any other natural disaster. When an earthquake strikes in 2072 BS in Nepal making an epicenter to Gorkha, schools and other educational facilities was damaged and destroyed, leaving children without access to education and a sense of normalcy. During this period, SoD Nepal supported over 12 schools including over 67 classrooms with TLCs providing a safe and secure environment for children of Gorkha to continue their education while schools were being repaired or rebuilt.

In addition to providing education, TLCs built by SoD Nepal also offered psychosocial support to help children cope with the trauma of the earthquake. They were also provided with counseling services, recreational activities, and other programs to promote emotional well-being.

Overall, TLCs are an essential component of earthquake response and recovery efforts, providing a vital lifeline for children and communities in the aftermath of a disaster.
