Nepal, as a developing country, continues to face significant challenges in its education system, particularly in terms of quality, equity, and relevance. Access to education remains limited for disadvantaged groups such as girls, children from low-income families, and those living in remote or rural areas. Barriers include a shortage of schools, inadequate transportation, and financial constraints. The quality of education is also a pressing concern, with a strong need for more student-centered and interactive teaching methods to improve learning outcomes. Moreover, Nepal’s education system has historically placed little emphasis on technical education and vocational training, which are essential for equipping students with practical skills and preparing them for employment.

To address this gap, SOD Nepal, in collaboration with Sharing the World Dream (Korea) and Chandragiri Municipality, has successfully established a technical education and vocational training school in Chandragiri Municipality Ward-12. Utilizing the infrastructure of Balambu Secondary School, the Balambu Technical Institute is now fully operational, with classes actively running. This initiative empowers local communities in Chandragiri and nearby areas by promoting self-reliance and sustainable development. Students are trained to develop and maintain local infrastructure, provide technical services, and engage in entrepreneurship. As a result, the program strengthens local industries and creates new job opportunities within the community itself.

Currently, the Balambu Technical Institute offers training in the following subjects:
1. Assistant Beautician
2. Mobile Repairing and Maintenance
3. Building Electrician
4. Automobile Repairing and Maintenance

This marks a significant step toward bridging the gap between traditional education and practical skill development in Nepal, ensuring that students are better prepared for both employment and entrepreneurship.
